The morphological characteristics of sunflower seeds.

Sunflower seeds consist of a fruit skin (shell) and seeds, which are made up of seed coat, two cotyledons, and an embryo.

The fruit skin is divided into three layers: the outer fruit skin is membranous and has short hairs; the middle fruit skin is leathery, hard, and thick; the inner fruit skin is fluffy. Inside the seed coat are two large cotyledons, as well as the embryonic root, stem, and bud, with no endosperm. The embryonic root, stem, and bud are located at the tip of the seed. The seed coat consists of two layers: the outer epidermis and the inner epidermis, appearing as a white membrane.
